Vered received the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award!

Vered’s proposal “Astrocyte-neuron interactions in the developing auditory system” received the NRSA award from National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders. The goal of this study is to understand how astrocytes affect the development of the auditory system.

Vered will be measuring calcium events in both astrocytes and neurons in the inferior colliculus of mice before and after hearing onset, with and without manipulation of astrocyte calcium activity.

Congratulations! We look forward to your work!
